Nottingham Rockets Volleyball Club have been announced as one of the three finalists for Volleyball England’s Club of the Year Award 2011!

The judging panel made up of Richard Callicott (President of Volleyball England), Jilly Holroyd (Sport England) and Ali Oliver (Director of Sport at the Youth Sport Trust) praised the high quality of the 15 entries to the competition especially how clubs were catering for all sections of their local community. The Rockets' Summer Volleyball programme, family friendly membership policies and strong links with local partners particularly impressed.

The other two finalists Newbury VC and University of Birmingham VC are both previous winners of the Club of the Year award and it is a true testament to the hard work of our club volunteers that we are considered in the same category!

The 1st, 2nd and 3rd place will be revealed at Volleyball England’s Annual Awards Evening held at the National Volleyball Centre in Kettering on Saturday the 16th of April.  The dinner takes place on the same weekend as the National Cup Finals, at the same venue.   The top prize is £700, 2nd prize is £200 and 3rd prize £100.

With the Ladies’ 1 squad only one step away from featuring in the Shield Finals on the Saturday, the Men's 1 squad one match away from winning their league and gaining automatic promotion to Div 2, and the mighty Michele currently topping the MVP charts for Div 3N... this could be a good weekend for Rockets!
More details about how to purchase tickets for the Awards Evening soon!
