After finishing a fantastic and successful indoor-season, 9 Rockets women took up another big challenge and took part in this year’s Race for Life 5K at Victoria Embankment.  Race for Life
is the UK's largest women-only fundraising event which raises millions of pounds every year for Cancer Research.
Despite a really chilly Sunday morning, Jo, Klara, Kate, Christin, Marta, Nicole, Emma, Sarah and Sian met dressed in pink to join the 4,000 plus other runners. In our group, we were people with very mixed running experience, from the regular runners who don’t even shy away from half-marathons to the ones who try to avoid even the warming-up runs at training.  Nevertheless, with the help of our fantastic supporter group all 9 of us reached the finishing line in a very respectable time. The first stand out performance came from Emma, who collected an amazing amount of money for cancer research. Marta was the winner on the sport side, as she flew through the 5K and finished in the Top 10 on the day. Even the youngest Rockets fan, Baby Szuszi, finished the race in the arms of her mum Klara together with the rest of the group.
The day was a fantastic success and great experience for all of us, not only did we really enjoy our first Race for Life together but much more important we were able to raise an incredible £743.20 for Cancer Research UK. We would like to thank all our supporters and sponsors who made this achievement possible.
