Beginner Junior Players
These training sessions are geared towards introducing juniors to the sport in a safe, fun and friendly environment. They can also take part in East Midlands events where they can meet other youngsters learning the game and take part in fun game-based competition, with the emphasis on building skills.
Improver Junior Players
Improvers' training sessions are aimed at building on the basic skills and putting them into practice in game situations. For those juniors who do want to play more competitively, we take U15s & U17s Rockets teams to participate in the East Midlands Grand Prix series. We also look to enter teams into the Volleyball England National cup.
For those juniors that really get into volleyball, they have an opportunity to train with the East Midlands junior squads and potentially be part of the team that competes at the Inter-Regionals. Every year, we have at least 3 or 4 girls and boys that are invited to represent the East Midlands. This is where all regions in England come together for a weekend of matches in May.
Development Pathway for Juniors
All juniors are eligible to play for an adult squad when they, their parents and the coach feels it is appropriate, and we have many juniors starring in our National and Regional league adult teams. We also have players that have been invited to train with the England Junior squad and represent the country in competitions like NEVZA. Our last 2 players were Jack Arnold and Thomas Graham-Jones.
