Our story

The Nottingham Rockets, founded in 1968, are a thriving indoor volleyball club in the heart of Nottingham catering to both adults & juniors.

We are home to the largest local volleyball community in Nottingham, facilitating opportunities for all levels from complete beginners all the way up to international players.

Our values

Ignite the game.

As one of the largest clubs in the East Midlands we take immense pride in the size and diversity of our Rockets community. We are a volunteer-led club aiming to foster a safe, inclusive, and meaningful local community for members of all ages and abilities to get involved.

Empower the community.

Volleyball is one of the nations fastest growing grassroots sports, particularly among young people. Providing structured ways to participate in team sport builds on key skills in young athletes which positively impacts their self-esteem and confidence. We hope to inspire a positive relationship with health, activity and peer relationships for all of our participants.

Our communities

We have 3 core communities within the club:

  • Adult Recreational (non-competitive)

  • Adult Teams (competitive)

  • Juniors (open sessions and team sessions)

ADULTS

Our adult teams compete regionally in the East Midlands league (EMVL), with our top men’s and women’s squads competing in the National league (NVL). Each team trains regularly with fixtures from September through to April. Find out more (mens), (womens).

Looking to give volleyball a go? Our weekly adult recreational sessions offer a friendly, welcoming environment for beginners to be introduced to the sport.

JUNIORS

Our Junior programme makes up a significant part of our volleyball community, aimed at boys and girls ages 11-18.

The programme has grown substantially in recent years in response to the rise of the sports popularity and continues to be a flourishing part of our Rockets ecosystem.

We are consistently fielding squads to compete in the VE Junior Grand Prix and the Junior Super Series, as well as having players selected to represent the East Midlands in Inter Regionals (Indoor and Beach).

Just starting out with volleyball? We have a variety of sessions for all abilities to get involved in - find out more here.
